Developing multi-agent systems with a FIPA-compliant agent framework

چکیده
To ease large-scale realization of agent applications there is an urgent need for frameworks, methodologies and toolkits that support the effective development of agent systems. Moreover, since one of the main tasks for which agent systems were invented is the integration between heterogeneous software, independently developed agents should be able to interact successfully. In this paper, we present JADE (Java Agent Development Environment), a software framework to build agent systems for the management of networked information resources in compliance with the FIPA specifications for inter-operable intelligent multi-agent systems. The goal of JADE is to simplify development while ensuring standard compliance through a comprehensive set of system services and agents. JADE can then be considered to be an agent middle-ware that implements an efficient agent platform and supports the development of multi-agent systems. It deals with all the aspects that are not peculiar to agent internals and that are independent of the applications, such as message transport, encoding and parsing, or agent life-cycle management. Different FIPA-compliant agent development platforms are available for developing multiagent systems. FIPA compliance ensures interoperability among agents across different platforms. Although most agent implementation platforms provide some form of whiteand yellow-page functionalities to advertise and identify agent roles and descriptions, there are no clear architectural standards that define...
متن کاملComparison of Two Component Frameworks: The FIPA-Compliant Multi-Agent System and The Web-Centric J2EE Platform
This work compares and contrasts two component frameworks: (1) the web-centric Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) framework and (2) the FIPA-compliant multi-agent system (MAS). FIPA, the Foundation for Intelligent Physical Agents, provides specifications for agents and agent platforms. Both frameworks are component frameworks; servlets and Enterprise Java Beans (EJBs) in the case of J2EE and soft...
متن کاملSupporting FIPA Interoperability for Legacy Multi-agent Systems
A system that conforms to FIPA specifications (standards) is a FIPAcompliant system, and can interoperate with any other heterogeneous systems which are FIPA-compliant also. The conversion of a Multi-Agent System (MAS) into a FIPA-compliant system (i.e. one that adheres to FIPA standards), is important to support interoperability across different MAS. A different approach to conforming a MAS to...
